The Big House Foundation: Its Role

The Big House Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity that has been formed to create a legacy by preserving the home and history of the Allman Brothers Band in Macon, Georgia. Together with friends and fans of this timeless band, this project will secure the Big House and its vast memorabilia collection for generations to come. Once renovations are completed, the Big House will be opened to the public as the Allman Brothers Band Museum. This project will guarantee that the house and the collection will be available to music lovers and fans of the group, and the treasure that is the Allman Brothers Band will be honored and cherished. After the Museum is open, you will be able to explore the world’s largest collection of Allman Brothers Band memorabilia that goes back to the days before the group was founded. Sit on the front porch where Duane Allman and Berry Oakley spent countless hours together, and walk the up the same steps as Butch Trucks, Jaimoe, and Chuck Leavell once did. Be in the house that inspired Gregg Allman to write “Please Call Home,” and hear the Sunday morning bells that forever ring out in Dickey Betts’ “Blue Sky.” We invite your participation in this very worthy project so that the road will go on forever.
